Presentation Formats

Neuroethics 2027
Madrid, Spain
April 7-9, 2027

Authors with an accepted research abstract will be invited to present their research as part of the conference. Authors have options to present in-person or online. Research presentations can be given in several formats — described in detail below.

A link to all presentations will be provided later.

Research Talks

Tom research abstract submissions will be invited to give a research talk (oral presentation). Each presenter is allocated 15 minutes with up to 10 minutes for their presentation and the remaining time dedicated to questions and answers from the audience. We will have four (4) presenters for each 60-minute session, so it is important to stay on time and utilize a timer.

Invitations for featured talks will be made on the basis of abstract topic, quality of submission, and with consideration for giving a platform to junior scholars and underrepresented perspectives or lines of inquiry. Both in-person attendees and online participants will be eligible to give featured talks — although there may be some limitations based on the program, schedule and venue.

Presenting authors attending the meeting in-person are encouraged to give their talk live. Presenters may use slides, which will be due the week of the conference — typically by Monday.

Presenting authors may alternatively submit a video recording of their talk which can be broadcast to attendees at the scheduled time. This is helpful for online presenters in case connectivity issues arise on the day of the event. See the video recordings section below for the details.

Talk Slides

If presenting a research talk online via Zoom, speakers will use screen share to show their slides. For in-person talks, presentation slides must be submitted in advance. Please follow these sizing and formatting recommendations.

  • Use a 16:9 aspect ratio
  • Save as a PPTX or PDF file
  • File size under 4 MB

Presentation slides for in-person talks are due by April 5, 2027. Upload slides to the correct folder for your session.

A link to upload slides will be provided at a later date.

Printed Posters

Poster presentations involve designing, printing, and pinning up a large-format poster at the in-person conference. See the sizing recommendations below. Authors are also expected to prepare a concise oral presentation (about 2-3 minutes) to introduce their fellow attendees to their research and invite a conversation.

All presenters will be assigned to one or more times in the schedule designated for poster presentations. Presentation times for in-person poster presentations will be determined at a later date.

A link to upload presentations will be provided at a later date.

Judging

If there is poster judging, judges will clearly identify themselves prior to engaging with presenting authors. Judges are allowed to but not required to give direct feedback.

Sizing

The recommended poster dimensions for in-person printed posters is DIN A0 in portrait orientation (more tall than wide). The dimensions are:

  • Height: 118 cm / 46 inches
  • Width: 84 cm / 33 inches

Printer

We do not yet have a recommendation for a local printer in Madrid.

Online Presentations

All conference participants with an accepted abstract may create an online presentation. Online presentations can be posters (large format images) or a set of slides that describes your research.

Authors submitting an online poster are expected to upload files in advance of the conference (at a deadline date to be announced later). Presenting authors may also submit a video recording of a brief oral presentation along with their poster or slides.

Presentations will be available online before, during, and after the event. There will not be a scheduled time during the conference for authors to present their research live for other online participants.

Online Posters

For online presentations submitted as a poster, please follow these sizing and formatting recommendations.

  • May be any aspect ratio or dimensions
  • Must be a PDF file
  • File size under 4 MB requested
16:9 aspect ratio

Online Slides

For online presentations submitted as slides, please follow these sizing and formatting recommendations.

  • Use a 16:9 aspect ratio
  • Export to a PDF file
  • File size under 4 MB

A link to upload presentations will be provided at a later date.

Video Recordings

Authors who have been invited to present a poster and authors invited to give a featured talk may choose to record their oral presentation so it can be available on demand to conference attendees or broadcast at a scheduled time.

  • Authors invited to give a poster presentation may submit a video presentation up to 4 minutes.
  • Authors invited to give a featured talk should follow the instructions mentioned above.

For video dimensions, we recommended to use a 16:9 aspect ratio. Videos should be exported to MP4. Please keep the file size under 20 MB. For all recordings, we encourage you to keep the number of slides and visual images to a minimum.

Two possible options for recording your talk include using PowerPoint or Zoom.

  • With PowerPoint: use the Record Slide Show feature, record your voice as you page through slides, and export the complete presentation as a video.
  • To record a talk with Zoom: open a new meeting session, enable the ‘share screen’ feature, switch to presenter view (to also capture your webcam view), give your talk as you page through slides, and save the recording on your computer.

A link to upload presentations will be provided at a later date.
